10.24.08-Suwanee, GA--Flanders Scientific is happy to announce the release of the all new SR-One Spectroradiometer. The SR-One was built specifically to provide broadcast and post-production customers with a spectroradiometer capable of delivering accuracy on par with units costing 3 to 4 times as much, but without all of the unnecessary optics and add-ons that account for such a great deal of the cost associated with more expensive units.
The SR-One is best utilized in typical broadcast and post-production environments where relatively close proximity to the display is not only possible, but typically easier to achieve than distant measuring. Additionally, with the increasing use of display devices such as LED backlight equipped LCD monitors the need for a spectroradiometer, as opposed to devices such as colorimeters, will become ever more important if accurate display measurement is desired.
As the color of the R,G,B primaries becomes more monochromatic, narrow bandwidth, and spectrally pure (ie LED backlight) a colorimeter's inherit deviance from the CIE 1931 defined spectral response curves leads to increasing errors in measurement as the light output no longer covers a wide enough spectrum to provide an averaged and relatively acceptable measurement. A spectroradiometer with high spectral resolution, narrow spectral bandwidth measurement ability, and high digital resolution resolves this problem and has the added advantage of being truly display agnostic. For facilities using a wide variety of display technologies, and especially for those environments with LCD monitors using LED backlights, a spectroradiometer is a critical piece of test and maintenance equipment for ensuring proper facility wide standardization of display calibration.
The SR-One is as good or better than significantly more expensive spectroradiometers on the market. Moreover, the SR-One is well suited to measuring displays at very close distances, something many of the more expensive spectroradiometers are not well equipped to handle. We invite you to compare our specifications to some of our competitors' (http://www.FlandersScientific.com/index/spectroradiometer) and see how our $8,995 solution can get the job done equally well for you.
